During its more than 20 years of history, CAMTRA has consolidated its leading role in women’s and feminist’s movement, not only in Rio de Janeiro but throughout Brazil, having already integrated the Conselho Nacional dos Direitos da Mulher (National Council for Women’s Rights), representing the World March of Women. In recent years CAMTRA has also consolidated its work related to the sustainability of Civil Society organizations, having actively participated in the approval of Law 13.019 / 2014 of the Regulatory Framework of Civil Society Organizations (MROSC). Currently, CAMTRA composes ABONG (Brazilian Association of NGOs) Executive Board – 2016-2019, and is a member of the Secretariat of MROSC Platform, representing ABONG/CAMTRA.

OUR CAUSES

SEXUAL RIGHTS AND REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS
[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]CAMTRA understands that women’s full exercise of sexual and reproductive rights is fundamental to guarantee human rights. We believe this exercise has been jeopardized by the conservatism and authority on women’s bodies in the conception of public policies, as well as their precariousness. In this sense, it is imperative to ensure the secular state, already provided for in the Federal Constitution of 1988 and the women’s autonomy in relation to free exercise of their sexuality and reproduction.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”930″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]
EDUCATION FOR AUTONOMY
[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”714″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]We consider that education has an important role for disseminating social values in the fight against discrimination, which is not intended to eliminate differences, but rather to eliminate inequalities. Thus, CAMTRA understands that education must contribute to face discrimination, especially those of gender, race / ethnicity and sexual orientation, preserving and relying on the principles of popular education.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]
WOMEN’S WORK
[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Women are culturally held accountable for housework and care tasks, socially devalued and invisible, which leads to inequalities in various spheres of their lives. Thus, women, especially black women, continue to occupy more precarious and poorly paid jobs. CAMTRA understands the importance of actions that visibilize and value women’s work, the dissemination of information on rights and visibility of women’s working conditions and their economic autonomy.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”1301″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]
VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”1302″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]CAMTRA joins efforts to address violence against women. Violence against women is one of the most serious manifestations of historically unequal power relations between men and women, limiting the exercise of women’s freedom, rights and life. We consider that facing violence against women should not be dissociated from fighting against racism and lesbophobia, as these oppressions add up and deepen violences.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”7574″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
